Training in Thailand
I’d just been in Ubud, Bali, and my time there had helped me recalibrate my nervous system somewhat. Having diffused some of the shock, was taking stock of my life – looking back at the crazy mess of the past 5 years – and trying to pull myself together. I’d trained a lot. Learned a lot. Healed a lot. But I was still floundering on my own in Asia without a plan and without much contact with the wider world, besides my readings for the online app.
My week in darkness in the cave had given me something. It was a rebirth of some kind. And I started making a website again and reconciling all my trainings. On cue, I was called to Thailand to do my Reiki Master training. I already had energy healing experience and was always a little dismissive of Reiki, especially as I was so used to my own ways of doing things, but I knew I had to be in the Sri Thanu area on Koh Khangan, and once there it was obvious that the Orion Healing course was the thing. It was meant to be cancelled but due to a blip in the system I was able to book on, and there was one other student looking to do it as well so it went ahead.
Thailand was a shorter trip than the others, but it was equally magical in ways that are hard to put into words. Very shamanic. I was called to stand in the ocean and open portals as the energy flowed through my system. I received many downloads and empowerments from the spirit world along with the Reiki empowerments. It wasn’t just about the Reiki. During that time I was consolidating all my trainings and it all came together beautifully.
I didn’t visit anywhere. No temples. No sacred sites. Just the local beach restaurants and the 7/11. What I will say is, it was interspersed with some of the most intense waves of depression I’ve had yet. A few waves of suicidal ideation lasting a day or so, which I recognised as kundalini symptoms and navigated. Then fine again. The spiritual path can do many strange things to your system. Spontaneous movements have been common for me, as has light language and random sounds. As time has gone on they’ve integrated into my healing practise and form the basis of how I work uniquely in a way you just can’t learn from a book. But the depression, yeah that’s rocky.
I completed the training and contemplated my next move. I’d been waiting for my sign. Back to Bali? Part of me longed to set up a home. Build a little reiki tarot business out there. Get on a dating app. A normal life. But it felt off. As I lay on the bed wondering, Ganesha appeared to me. Then I saw images of some very distinctive temple towers and heard the word: Varanasi. I was off again.
