The Apprentice

Not passive. Not receiving. You're in it. What a session looks like, and how you end up doing a version of it yourself.

Our own healing process is the ultimate training ground for discovering our magick. In these sessions, the healing feeds the magick, and the magick feeds the healing. Through reclaiming your Inner Magician, you build agency in your life that spirals up and up into greater enablement and satisfaction.

Of all my offerings, this is the one where we’re actually doing the work together, at our own pace. Not holding a point and waiting. Not placing my hands in sequence. Not creating a container and letting the work come through on its own. It’s about seeing where you are, and where things want to move, and using magick to facilitate that together.

I track what’s coming up through channeling your guides throughout the session as well, and we can use that to help us orientate the work. Dynamically responding to what shows up rather than relying on a prescribed protocol, toolset or training program is a key part of the work.

I’ve trained a fair bit in magick. There are lots of different magickal tools out there that can help, and based on what comes up, we can go through what’s helpful next step by step – either from an established magickal device or from something that arises spontaneously.

A session might include a journey to meet your inner child, or a part of you that’s struggling. It might be going in and updating old spells you set up for yourself unconsciously when you were overwhelmed. It might be manifesting a new kind of future. Mostly you’re sitting comfortably rather than lying back, although for longer journeys you may go deeper.

A session where someone’s looking to change career often begins with a reading, delves into hidden places where you don’t feel safe, and helps you tap in to what brings you joy. From there, the manifestation work is practically unnecessary – you’ve changed, so your life will naturally shift around that.

As we go along, you learn to build confidence in your own magick. It’s not about me doing the work for you. Through being the patient you become the apprentice. You connect more with your own allies, your own power, and your own intuitive gifts. There's no expectation to perform or to try too hard. But you're in it. You're not passive. The difference between this and a Reiki session or a shamanic session is that you're seeing the mechanism. You're watching the work happen and you’re involved in that process. And that changes what it does in you, because you're not just receiving energy, you're learning to see how it moves.

The ratio shifts. Some days it might just be more me working, narrating, and you just being in it — relaxed, present, following. Some days you might take the lead and I’m there to support the work. Most people are somewhere in between and I figure it out in the moment. It's the same dance as everything else I do — finding the balance between ‘doing’ and ‘holding space’, ‘fixing’ and ‘not fixing’ . The real power of magick is in being in resonance.

It's not therapy and I don’t diagnose. I'm not mapping your system or working through a theoretical framework. I listen to your guides and I respond to what's there in the moment. We do something specific with it – as much or as little as it needs, as fast or as slow as necessary.

If you want the case for why any of this works — my piece on ‘Why "magical thinking" is smarter than it sounds’ tracks what the neuroscience actually shows.

If you want the whole field worked with a fixed protocol, my Reiki sessions are the structured end. If you want the open, instinctive, "I don't know what's going to happen" element, shamanic sessions are the other direction. Guided Magickal Work is the middle: I'm doing the work, you're in it, and you leave knowing what happened and why.
