Training in Thailand

I’d just been in Bali and my time there had helped me recalibrate my nervous system somewhat. Having diffused some of the shock of my time in Peru, I was taking stock of my life – looking back at the crazy sprawl of the past 5 years – and trying to pull myself together. I’d trained a lot. Learned a lot. Healed a lot. But I was still floundering on my own in Asia without a plan and without much contact with the wider world other than my readings for the online app.

My week in darkness in the cave had given me something. It was a rebirth of some kind. And I started making a website again and reconciling all my trainings. On cue, I was called to Thailand to do my Reiki Master training. I already had energy healing experience and was always a little dismissive of Reiki, especially as I was so used to my own ways of doing things. But I knew I had to be in the Sri Thanu area on Koh Phangan, and once there it was obvious that the Orion Healing course was the thing. It was supposed to have been cancelled but due to a blip in the online system I was able to book on, and there was one other student looking to do it as well, so it went ahead.

Thailand was a shorter trip than the others, but it was equally magical in ways that are hard to put into words. Very shamanic. I was called to stand in the ocean and open portals as the energy poured through my system. I received many downloads and empowerments from the spirit world along with the Reiki empowerments. It wasn’t just about the Reiki, although my appreciation and understanding of that modality also deepened a lot. During that time I was consolidating all my trainings and it all came together beautifully into something I felt like I was getting ready to share more proactively.

It was interspersed with some of the most intense waves of depression I’ve had yet. A day or two each I had to anchor through my mindfulness practice and smoothie bowls on the beach. Then fine again. The spiritual path can do many strange things to your system. Spontaneous movements have been common for me, as has light language and random sounds. As time has gone on they’ve integrated into my healing practice. But it wasn’t all downloads and portals.

I completed the training and contemplated my next move. I’d been waiting for my sign. Back to Bali? Part of me longed to set up a home. To build a little reiki and tarot business out there. To get on a dating app and meet some friends. A normal life. But it felt off, and as I lay on the bed wondering about it, Ganesha appeared to me. Then I saw images of some very distinctive temple towers and heard the word I’d been waiting for: Varanasi. I was off again.
